A message from CASACA President, Jeff Brown

January 14th, 2014

Welcome to the Games for Life 2014.

Below are the dates for each city’s games.

San Antonio – March 29, 2014

Austin – April 12, 2014

This incredible competition for residents of long term care continues to be one of CASACA’s most anticipated events.

Last year (2013) was the 31st Anniversary of the Austin Games for Life and we’re proud to say that it was our largest ever event. We had over 500 residents representing 29 nursing homes and assisted living facilities. Every event was filled to capacity. We had 24 teams battling it out for the coveted Volleyball trophy. Over 50 residents vied to win the Spelling competition.

We can’t wait to see what this year holds for both Austin and the San Antonio Games, which is now in its fourth year and attracting a lot of attention.

As always, the success of the Games is heavily dependent on the support of our sponsors and volunteers. The Games is funded solely by CASACA members, registration fees and the generosity of our sponsors. Please consider pledging your support, as either a business or individual. We offer a great package of benefits in return. We have lots of volunteer positions available and are now actively recruiting. If you are able to help in either capacity, please sign up today!

In the meantime, take a moment to watch our short promotional video from the 2010 Games.

The Fun has just Begun!

An area will be reserved for facility buses and vans and the remaining spaces will be available on a first come basis. There are no other free lots. Pay Parking is available in the Manor and Trinity Garages.

Please note: Dependent on the size of vehicle you are transporting your residents in, you will be sent instructions for your drop-off point. If you have not received your instructions prior to Friday 11 April, please contact Donna Shelton at 512 422-9123.

If you are dropping off a participant in your car or small van, we recommend you exit IH-35 at the MLK Exit. Then continue West on MLK and take a right on Trinity (this becomes San Jacinto). Participants can unload at the corner of 20 1/2 street or on the sidewalk of San Jacinto in front of the Rec Center and just past the guard station. Please do not stop in the bus stop area.
