Volunteers
Make a difference. We need your help to make the 2012 Games a success.
Get together a group of your friends, co-workers or come as you are and volunteer for any of the positions listed below. We need close to 100 volunteers to ensure the Games run smoothly for all our participants.
We’ll provide you with a volunteer t-shirt, refreshments and the lasting appreciation of our participants, their care givers and family members.

Registration
Assists with preparation of facility ʻgoodie bagsʼ.
Coordinates sign-in on the day of Games.
Balloon Volleyball – referees and line judges
This is a high-energy event, with lots of people crowding around the Game.
Can be split into shifts as volleyball runs throughout the day.
Racing – line judges
Menʼs and womenʼs racing events. Line judges are responsible for ensuring
racers are following the rules and to assist in recording finishing order.
Throwing – starting line and distance officials
Menʼs and womenʼs throwing events. Starting line officials ensure the participant has the discus or shot-put and is ready to throw. Distance officials mark the distance thrown and record the results.
Arts & Crafts – judges
Up to 20 different craft categories to be judged. Judges will preferably have a background in the arts or a love for crafts. Once completed, volunteer can be assigned to another desired position.
Dominos – score-keepers
Require scorekeepers at each table. Should be quick at mental arithmetic and multiples of 5!
Dominos is held in a separate room from the main gym.
Spelling – judges
A great opportunity for English teachers or lovers of the English language. This is a relatively short event, therefore only 1 or 2 volunteers required. After the event, volunteer can move to a different assignment if desired.
Runners
Collect score sheets from the officials and take them to the awards table so
medals can be awarded. Also take sheets to the official scorekeeper for
recording.
This is a fast-paced role – competitors are anxious to know the results of their event!
Awards – presenters
Help set up the Awards table the night before, or morning of the event.
Hand out the awards to the correct recipients/congratulate and place the award medal on the competitor.
Parking/Traffic Coordinators
These volunteers play an essential role in helping participants get into the venue safely.
Parking is tight and volunteers are needed to help direct drivers and assist in unloading of passengers and equipment. This is a short-term role, volunteers will be finished by 10:30 and can then take on another preferred assignment.
Event Setup
Assist with setting up all aspects of the event, either the evening before, or the morning of the Games.
